Today we continued S on 445, went E on 45, S on 235, and continued S on 333 just through Thompsontown, PA. Climbed three mountains—a bit of a push day! We were aiming for the state forest on the far side of Thompsontown, but we decided to stop a few km early and camp by the train tracks under the 333 bridge. Little did we know!
For the full 30-45 minutes that we took to scout and decide to camp there, no trains went by. But as soon as we got changed and sat down to make dinner, they started roaring by (in both directions) every 9 minutes! We imagined that we were some running joke among the engineers, in contact via radio! In the end, however, no one seemed to mind our presence there. The trains continued off and on through the night, keeping me up a bit more than Daniel it seemed.
Dinner: Mac & cheese (a homemade rue, of course!) with tuna and peas.
