Cycling with Kody and Mark : Jungle Safaris

Words and pictures can’t do the ride justice today, but David, Alan and friends took me on another ride through one of the many rainforests here. It was mostly a dirt and rocky road, so I borrowed the mountain bike of David’s dad. With my beard dripping water and my body soaked, the heavy drizzle didn’t keep them from plowing through the mud and climbing to the end of the road. To top it off, we stopped at a lady’s house who runs a restaurant out the back of the house on weekends. It was Monday, but Alan has a way with words and convinced her to cook us some food for the trip back down. We parked our bikes and ate the food cooked over burning wood and coal.

It was the most difficult ride I have ever taken. Roughly 25 miles of hardcore rainforest mountain biking!

Another Jungle Safai! Through a rainforest national park we rode the most crazy mountain bike trail. We had to walk our bikes back since it was so steep. People pay a lot of money for the jungle adventure I have had so far. It is incredible! Another 20 miles of riding (and walking).

looks like the fun has only begun. it makes me happy to see you on this trip. i’m glued to the computer screen as i read your blog and view your pictures (that is a nice size raspberry on your knee, good work). right now i’m wondering if central america brews good beer, you should look into that.

we just won our second basketball game in a row and my hometown football team made it to the super bowl (i’m sure you know that), but i’ll be heading home to watch it with the natives.

good luck and god speed.
