Mark got here late Thursday night, but not without having to buy a fully refundable $900 return ticket (apparently you have to show a return ticket to get into Costa Rica, but for some reason they didn’t catch me).We spent Friday morning building his bike, and then headed into San Jose to the US Airways office to get his refund back for the ticket.
Friday night we had some great conversation with Eldwin, our host dad, and he decided to take us out the fanciest pizza restaurant I have ever been to. He forgot to tell us that we shouldn’t wear our mesh shorts and hoodies to this restaurant where everyone else was dressed up and on a date. With live acoustic spanish tunes in the air and the freshest pizza, we had a wonderful night speaking spanish.
And by the way…I just ate liver for the first time for dinner Saturday night! Not on my favorite foods list…

Hey boys – good to hear that you are reunited and reimbursed! So you got your first taste of fashion taboo – Nicaragua is the same way, I get lots of looks when I go to the grocery store in my workout clothes because apparently it is a dressy occasion. So what is #6 on the map? Your next destination? It looks super close to the Osa Peninsula – maybe you can make it to Drake’s Bay and Corcovado – two of the most amazing places I remember from CR. Cuidense!
