Cycling with Kody and Mark : Dominical
Posted Feb. 10, 2009, 1:40 p.m.

2/8-10

Apparently, to keep gringos and the tourism that they bring out of some of the southern parts of Costa Rica, they decided to not pave the main road for the 30 miles to Dominical. The first half of the ride went fast and smooth, as they had done some major improvements to the road and that was completely straight and flat. However, the second half of the ride turned into some of those terrible roads we had seen in the Nicoya Peninsula. Mark had a frustrating day with a couple popped tubes, his front rack coming loose and one of his bags continuing to fall off.

We again met up with Sam and Ahleah in Dominical and hiked with them up to a waterfall outside of town. We heard it was one of the tallest waterfalls in Costa Rica, but it is usually hard to believe things you hear. Regardless, it was absolutely beautiful! We took a few hours to hike around the rocks and swim in the pool before hiking the 4 miles back out.

We are going to take one extra day here to relax and hang out before we make our last couple day push to the Panama border. We are ready to get out of the expensive prices here in Costa Rica and have heard Panama is a little cheaper.
