Our goal at this point is to get to Panama City as soon as we can. Mark’s uncle works for a shipping company in Colombia and we are hoping to be able to take a ship from Colon to Cartagena, Colombia for free, and we need to be ready to go whenever we are told it is there. Otherwise it could cost us a pretty penny to pay for a boat to get to Colombia.
We left Aguadulce hoping to be able to get to the beaches, but we weren’t sure how far we would be able to get. Despite the heavy wind against us, we both felt pretty good on our ride and rode our first 100km ride. It was quite an accomplishment considering we had to completely rotate and change all of Mark’s tires and tubes that took over an hour. Mark is also down to just one extra tube, and it has been patched numerous times. We are hoping to find more tubes when we get into Panama City.
We found an extremely cool little beach town with a hostel to stay at. We discovered that this is where a lot of retired Americans, and probably some American fugitives move when all we found were white people here. Apparently the gringos have decided to move in and take over this whole area so they don’t have to pay property taxes in the States.
