After our long day yesterday, we didn’t have what it took to get all the way to Panama City, and we also knew that we would be crossing some large hills on this ride. We decided to shoot for La Chorrera, the last big city before Panama City. We had a little time to walk around and discover that they were still celebrating Carnaval here in La Chorrera this weekend. A little late, I would say, since it is 3 days after Ash Wednesday, but who am I to say?!
We celebrated Carnival here too — although it was three days after Ash Wednesday as well… it arrived in our little village a bit late. And even though we are a small town, it was still a BIG party! The way you described it is pretty much the same for the Germans and the Swiss — except minus the fireworks. Here, you get pulled into the parade by random clowns or witches… or, you get 7 year-olds throwing confetti down your back — because you’re an easy target that they can reach height-wise. ; ) It was still for sure good times. Glad you got to experience it in Panama.

I’m totally envious. What an amazing experience. Being that you are in such good shape, you guys need to sign up for a bike race when you get back home.
Kody, I finally thought to look for your blog and I’ve enjoyed catching up with your trip (and yours too Mark tho we haven’t met)—and great photos. Wow.
